Policies/Guidance: Strategies: Northumberland Strategic Partnership

The Northumberland Pubic Art Action Plan 2004 - 2008 offers a summary of the detailed review of public art opportunities across the county of Northumberland which was carried out by Commissions North, the regional public art agency, for Northumberland Strategic Partnership between June and December 2003.

The document recommends key objectives and the practical steps necessary to create a new climate for the development and realisation of future high quality and innovative public art projects within Northumberland. It is illustrated with selected project examples from across the region and a specially commissioned personal visual review of the county's public realm environments by North East photographer Sally Ann Norman.

Five key zones across the county: Market Towns; South East Northumberland; Rural; Coast and Countywide networks. For each zone, relevant comparator projects in the north of England or in Northumberland are briefly described and opportunities for future public art projects in Northumberland are identified. The Action Plan itself sets out tasks to achieve each Key Priority Aim indicating lead role and timescale.

The Action Plan encompasses the Inspire initiative - the South East Northumberland Public Art Initiative which provides public art delivery for Wansbeck and Blyth Districts.
