Launch of South West Cultural Olympiad guidelines
Open Skies, initial guidelines to engaging with the Cultural Olympiad in the South West of England were recently issued.
The Cultural programme is one of five themes or “flames” that are being progressed by Team South West, the team responsible for delivery of the Olympic Games in the region, via the South West England Legacy Strategy.
Each “flame” concentrates on maximising the impact of, and benefits from hosting the London 2012 Olympic Games in the South West region in the following five areas:
• Business Development
• Tourism and regional image
• Sporting opportunity
• Cultural celebration
• Community engagement
These are cross-cutting themes and culture will have a role to play in all of them.
Open Skies is a "holding document" with a shelf life of no more than five months, after which time the official protocol for engagement, including full criteria, will be available from LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games). Given the high levels of interest and appetite for information across the region, this interim guide has been produced.
Download the Open Skies guide as an Adobe Acrobat format document, 137KB.
