News: Research: ixia Planning System Review

Public Art and the Planning System and Process (2007)

ixia has undertaken the first review in fifteen years of the current policy, guidance and practice regarding public art and the planning system and process in England. It has been conducted in response to the growing amount of public art provided via the planning system and process in England.

The review identifies that here is growing evidence of support for public art, but that its impact is limited by narrow definitions and restrictive practice. It concludes that vision, policy, strategy and expertise in public art are key strategic success factors.
