Bartlett School of Architecture: Book Launch
transparadiso »Direct Urbanism«
Thursday 12th December | 7- 9pm
G04 | Wates House
All welcome

To celebrate the launch of transparadiso’s new book Direct Urbanism, Bartlett School of Architecture are hosting a launch event on the evening of Thursday 12th December.

There will be talks by transparadiso’s Barbara Holub and Paul Rajakovics (Vienna) and responses by the Bartlett’s Yeoryia Manolopoulou and Jane Rendell, and Goldsmiths’ Andrea Phillips.

About the book
After more than twelve years of transdisciplinary practice Direct Urbanism (designed by Lupo & Burtscher, Bolzano, and Schienerl D/AD, Vienna) introduces the extensive work of transparadiso. Their oeuvre ranges from a committed architectural practice to diverse artistic-urban interventions which, methodically sharpened as direct urbanism, transgresses the dichotomy between planning and urban activism. The desire for a collective topos that is supported by collaborative actions and the potential of macro-utopias is common to all the different projects. An interview with Paul O’Neill and Mick Wilson as well as a text by Jane Rendell link the discourse to the projects with their diverse contexts.

The event will be followed by drinks in the Lobby Gallery and the book, Direct Urbanism, will be on sale for a special price of £20.00.

Location: Bartlett School of Architecture, Room G04, Wates House, 22 Gordon Street, London, WC1H 0QB
