A Room for London is perched on the roof of The Queen Elizabeth Hall at the London South Bank Centre, providing a unique art house hotel experience with views over Waterloo bridge and the surrounding London cityscape.
With a short time frame for construction and installation the build of A Room for London was completed in 52 days during winter 2011. Millimetre commissioned the time lapse film as a unique construction process study which will outlast the temporary structures existence on the London skyline. The photographic process accumulated over 67,000 full frame stills which created some interesting challenges for editing and post production and required creative use of software to try and keep frames architectonically correct when working with the extreme wide angle footage.
A soundtrack by Symmetry, taken from the album Themes for an Imaginary Film, titled Over the Edge, is a fitting accompaniment to an extreme compression of 52 days into under 6 minutes.
