Homebaked Bakery presents 'The Sphinx and the Books'

Date uploaded: January 28, 2013

After the great success of The Anfield Home Tour Homebaked Bakery are very delighted to be hosting another performance work - the Sphinx has temporarily moved into the bakery flat and she has brought a lot of books with her!

An intimate piece of autobiographical performance by North Liverpool based artist Lorena Rivero de Beer in collaboration with musician Barry Han, theatre director Ben Phillips, designer Katherina Radeva and photographer Mark Loudon. Through a mythical creature, the Sphinx, the performance unravels the artist’s relationship with books and how those shaped her personal history, which includes arriving and constructing her home in North Liverpool.

The performance will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of January at 6:30 pm. The Bakery will be open from 6:00 pm for tea/coffee and cake.

Before the performances, there will also be a workshop held by Lorena on Thursday 24th of January from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm exploring the creative process behind the performance. The workshop will use books and other cultural objects to explore issues of identity and personal history. No previous experience is required, everybody is welcome!

The workshop and performances are free. Places are limited. Please book in advance via e-mail: [email protected]
