LIFT in Derry~Londonderry for City of Culture 2013

In two weeks, LIFT will be delivering a programme of activity in Derry~Londonderry, as part of the UK City of Culture 2013.
LIFT and Hofesh Shechter Company have been working with Derry musicians and dance groups to present the first weekend of performance of the City of Culture celebrations.
Political Mother: Derry~Londonderry Uncut is a reworking of Hofesh Shechter's epic tour-de-force, featuring a live band of more than 30 musicians, 22 of which are from Derry~Londonderry. LIFT and Hofesh Shechter Company have been working with these local musicians since January who will perform over two nights on 8th and 9th March to 4,000 people in this very special version of Shechter's signature work.
Political Mother: Shortcuts will see 5 Derry dance groups perform new sight-specific dance pieces in outdoor locations across the city. Created in collaboration with dancers of Hofesh Shechter Company and inspired by Political Mother: The Choreographer's Cut, these dance works will take place from 12noon - 2pm on 9th March.
Boat Magazine: Derry~Londonderry will be a one-off newspaper which uncovers the hidden stories about the city. In one week LIFT and Boat will seek to get under the skin of the city, meeting local residents and uncovering stories to create and distribute a 32 page free paper across Derry on 9th March.
Also, in the week preceding these performances, from 2nd-10th March, LIFT will be hosting 15 artists from 11 countries in Derry~Londonderry as part of a Global City - Local City CityLAB, introducing artists to a city and inspiring them to create new work about Derry.
