Open House

Date uploaded: June 12, 2015

In Certain Places present Open House art exhibition to celebrate the launch of the Hannah Festival in the north. The exhibition dates are
Friday the 12th June from 5 to 7.30pm and Tuesday the 16th, Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th of June from 1 to 4pm at In Certain Places, 38 St Peters Street, University of Central Lancashire.

Open House features the work of artists Bonnie Craig, Claire Tindale, Steph Fletcher and Cherry Tenneson. In Certain Places examines how artists can contribute to the development of a city and Fletcher and Tenneson will exhibit from their work as artists in residence. The two have recently presented Time Travel, a collection of new artworks and interventions informed by eighteen months of research in Preston city centre.

At Open House, Cherry Tenneson exhibits a series of limited edition prints from ‘outward journeys must not be in the past’, a series of signs and posters installed in Preston’s transport hubs. Steph Fletcher’s twentyfourzero, looking at the nature of modern work and its impact upon everyday life, comprised a collection of small performances; Open House will see her recruiting more people to her Anxious Workers Club.

Craig and Tindale, both newly supported by ICP, will show work relating to art and place with further unique perspectives. Bonnie Craig, ensconced at the house since the beginning of June, creates a new site-specific work applied to the architecture of the house itself, using pattern not as decoration but as design itself. Claire Tindale exhibits some of her miniature interiors, which juxtapose against the scale of the house.
