Temporary Stedelijk 3: Stedelijk @

The Stedelijk Museum is closed for the final phase of construction and completion of the building renovation and expansion project. In the meantime Temporary Stedelijk 3: Stedelijk @ is being presented, a diverse program in collaboration with several peer institutions in Amsterdam encompassing lectures, performances, film screenings, large-scale events and many more activities.

Since 2004, the Stedelijk has explored in manifold ways how the contemporary art museum can connect with the city. Projects such as POST CS, Stedelijk in de Stad, The Temporary Stedelijk, and Temporary Stedelijk 2, introduced the pop-up institution, the nomadic museum, and redefined gallery spaces in a building that was not yet a museum. From October 2011 until the grand reopening of the Stedelijk Museum in 2012, the Stedelijk will continue this period of experimentation with Temporary Stedelijk 3: Stedelijk @ – an extensive public program that connects with a host of art institutions in Amsterdam.

Temorary Stedelijk 3: Stedelijk @ demonstrates that a contemporary art museum is always a platform that operates through a dialogue with its local and international context – the city, peer institutions, and an international network of artists and art professionals. In addition, the public program of a museum does not only present a singular form of art, but also includes many directions and disciplines. The close collaboration with de Ateliers, de Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten, de Appel arts centre, the University of Amsterdam, Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, If I Can't Dance I Don't Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution, Trouw/De Verdieping, W139, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, and Metropolis M (and many more!) is the driving force behind Temporary Stedelijk 3: Stedelijk @, and shows the variety of disciplines and partners involved.

The Stedelijk's Public Program comprises lectures and debates, film screenings, interviews, performance events, music, artist talks, and large-scale events. An overview of all events is available below and on their website.
