Talk by sculptor, painter and performance artist Bob & Roberta Smith
Leeds Art Gallery Lecture Theatre, Friday 16 October 2009, 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Bob and Roberta Smith (aka Patrick Brill) will be discussing how sculpture relates to his work and how his practice has been affected by a wide range of influences - from Gustav Metzger and Fluxus to Mark E Smith and The (other) Smiths. Bob and Roberta have shown work internationally, with recent shows in Italy and the United States, at Tate Britain and The National Gallery.
As well as many solo and group exhibitions Smith has considerable experience of working with the public including the ‘Shop Local’ project in Hoxton, east London, a major Thames Gateway project in Essex, and the 2008 Tate Christmas tree project, Make Your Own Xmas. He has also long been involved in live music performance and has hosted his own radio show. Publications include Art U Need: My Part in the Public Art Revolution and Make Your Own Damn Art.
