Seeking innovative artists for Hackney heritage project
Request for Expressions of Interest for a Permanent Creative Intervention in Hackney Central
Groundwork London is inviting expressions of interest from artists for an innovative permanent intervention for Hackney Central. We are seeking an artist to develop a flank wall in Hackney town centre to enhance the area, reflect its creative vibrancy and celebrate what is great about Hackney.
A community engagement exercise, led by Groundwork London, will be delivered at the same time as the commission, to inform the artist’s work. It is envisaged that the artist will take part in elements of the youth and community engagement process and that the key findings will be reflected in the design.
The artist will be responsible for developing a bland and poorly maintained space into a robust art installation reflecting Hackney's diversity by July 2012 and work with:
- Young people
- Groundwork London
- The London Borough of Hackney
- Community members and local traders
Please click here to download the design brief.
The expression of interest should include:
- A practice profile demonstrating previous experience of similar projects
- Confirmation of capacity to meet the timeframe
- A written response to the brief, which should include an outline methodology and should be no longer than 2 pages of A4. This should include proposals for linking into the consultation process and ideas for how the artwork might reflect the outcomes of the consultation process.
- Details of the project team including relevant professional experience
- Evidence of public liability insurance
The submission must not exceed 5MB.
